WHAT WE ARE TEACHING IN APRIL

"Full Bloom"

A Teaching Series from the Gospels on Easter

Spring is the season for new beginnings! Whether you're cleaning out parts of your home or watching the flowers bloom in your garden, it's a time for new life and growth. Like a good gardener, Jesus wanted to help cultivate the seeds of faith in his friends so they could all grow closer to God. In this teaching series, kids will learn all about the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus as he sowed the seeds of new life in the world. Kids will discover that God sent Jesus to save us, Jesus understands when we're hurting, he makes all things new, and He connects us to God.

LENTEN RESOURCE FOR FAMILIES

Our YFM Team is offering a resource for families this Lenten Season. “Darkest Night, Brightest Day,” written by Marty Machowski, shows families how Easter morning turned the world upside down and right side up. Start a new Easter season tradition with your family by reading this beautifully illustrated “upside-down” book that includes 14 Bible stories for Passion and Easter weeks. Begin on Palm Sunday with the first side, “Darkest Night,” which has seven stories that recount the events of Passion week, ending with Christ’s crucifixion and burial. On Easter morning, flip the book over and continue by reading “Brightest Day” with seven more stories that progress from Christ’s resurrection to His ascension and Pentecost. Contact Beth Stoffregen or stop by the YFM Table on the courtyard patio on Sunday mornings to pick up your copy.

  • APRIL PHILANTHROPY: ACTS OF APPRECIATION

Acts of Appreciation is a military outreach program that aims to recognize and shower military families with God's love through various "Acts of Appreciation." They look for ways to extend God's love to our military and their families whether they are as close as Camp Pendleton or as far away as Afghanistan. We feel responsible to honor those who serve in the armed forces defending our freedoms.

Our RHL Community is partnering with Acts of Appreciation by collecting donations to be gifted to expecting mothers in military families. These donations include: clothing (sized 3 to 12 months), bibs/burp cloths, washcloths/baby towels baby shampoo/ wash/lotion, diapers (sized 3 to 12 months), wipes and baby-safe stuffed animals. RHL Students will also be writing “Dear Hero” cards to thank members of the U.S. military.

  • Red Hill lutheran CUB SCOUT PACK 235

Family-focused and value-driven! Red Hill's Cub Scouting program is a year-round program uniquely designed to meet the needs of young boys and girls (kindergarten through fifth grade) and their families. The program offers fun and challenging activities that promote character development and physical fitness. Family involvement is an essential part of the program, and parents are encouraged to play an active role.

Cub Scouting helps parents make the most of the time they have to impact the lives of their children. Cub Scouting nurtures leadership and character growth, helps develop interests and skills, teaches duty to God and country, and is fun! Click here for more information.

  • GOD MADE ME FOR WORSHIP

Understanding the different parts of a worship service can be confusing. One minute everyone is singing loudly, the next everyone is sitting and listening quietly. Sometimes the adults know something that should be said out loud like, “Thanks be to God!” How did they know what to say? What is communion all about? Why does the pastor raise his hands and pray at the end of the service?

This bright and colorful children’s book celebrates how God reveals himself to his people in the movements of worship. All the parts of worship tell the story of the gospel, and since Jesus is the object of our worship, his story of redemption gives shape to our worship. The author of this book guides parents to help their kids understand why we’re intentional about worship, encouraging them to engage—not just to manage behavior during a worship gathering, and invites children to respond to God along with the whole church body.

Itzel has served on our Children's Ministry Team in a variety of roles since 2020. Currently, she serves as RHL's Children's Ministry Coordinator and 2nd Grade Small Group Leader. Ministry has allowed Itzel an opportunity to channel her innate curiosity to nurture the interest of children in their walk with Jesus. When not working on the next game or lesson for ministry, you can find Itzel reading her latest book, hanging with her crazy pups, enjoying some time with her large family, or investigating the next topic that has caught her eye.
